Frequently Asked Questions

EMI stands for Equated Monthly Installment. It is a fixed payment amount made by a borrower to a lender at a specified date each calendar month. EMIs are used to pay off both interest and principal each month, so that over a specified number of years, the loan is paid off in full.

The formula used is: [P x R x (1+R)^N]/[(1+R)^N-1]. P = Principal loan amount, R = Monthly interest rate, N = Number of monthly installments.

In a "Fixed Rate" loan, the EMI remains constant. However, for "Floating Rate" or "Variable Rate" loans (very common in Pakistan home/car financing), the EMI may change if the benchmark interest rates change.
